Kirra Hampson

ABC Heywire Winner,

Kirra is a Heywire alumni who was brought up in the Dubbo area. In 2020, she joined a cohort of winners in Canberra for the Heywire Summit after having her story about coming out produced by the ABC. She has a background in theatre, photography and film. After moving to Melbourne to study film, she began working as a producer for the ABC's Impact Team who are responsible for the Heywire storytelling competition. She works primarily with young people to produce their stories, teach them about media literacy and help them learn to become leaders in their community.

Kirra will talk about how she heard about and entered Heywire, the experience of having her story produced, what she lean’t from being part of the Youth Summit and the impact of opportunity, her ongoing relationship with the ABC and her internship with the Heywire team.
