World Class Company Directors Course Returns to Orana this November

Regional Development Australia (RDA) Orana has announced that the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) Company Directors Course™ will return to Dubbo from Monday 16 to Friday 20 November, hosted at The Vault Orana.

The Company Directors Course is recognised nationally as Australia’s leading governance program for directors, senior executives and emerging leaders. Delivered over five intensive days, the course provides participants with a deep understanding of contemporary governance practice and equips them with the skills needed to operate confidently and effectively at board level.

In a coup for the region, RDA Orana secured the much sought‑after Company Directors Course for the first time in 2025. Eleven participants took part in the inaugural five‑day program, strengthening their governance capability, fostering cohesive growth within their governing teams and boosting sector‑specific board expertise.

Feedback from participants and AICD was overwhelmingly positive, with strong endorsement for the program’s relevance, quality and impact. The success of the first cohort laid the foundation for the course to become an annual fixture in the Orana region.

RDA Orana CEO Justine Campbell said bringing the course back to Dubbo reflects the continued demand for high‑quality governance education and the growing sophistication of boards across regional NSW.

“Hosting the Company Directors Course at The Vault Orana gives directors, board members and senior executives access to world‑class governance training without leaving the region,” Ms Campbell said. 

“It’s an opportunity for leaders to build capability together, strengthen board performance and deepen their understanding of the governance challenges shaping modern organisations.”

The five‑day program covers AICD’s renowned curriculum across five core themes:

• Governance and the practice of directorship – developing a director mindset and understanding how governance structures influence performance and culture.
• The legal environment – exploring directors’ duties, regulatory responsibilities, privacy, cybersecurity, competition law and emerging societal expectations.
• Risk and strategy – examining risk appetite, oversight, crisis management, organisational resilience and the intersection of strategy, culture and risk.
• Financial literacy and performance – interpreting financial statements, understanding reporting obligations, recognising insolvency indicators and strengthening financial questioning skills.
• Achieving board effectiveness – building constructive board culture, improving organisational performance and understanding board renewal and evaluation.

Ms Campbell said the interactive learning structure, featuring real‑world case studies, simulations and facilitated discussion, ensures participants gain practical, actionable insights.
